Finally....

Ok, first let me start by apologizing that this post is way overdue! A lot has happened since December 23rd so I will try my best to fill in all the details.
Jason, baby and I had a great time when we were in LA! This picture was taken when we were visiting Venice Beach on Christmas Eve. I was exactly half way through the pregnancy at this point and we all enjoyed a day of walking on the beach and eating way too much junk food!

We were very sad to leave LA on the 27th but the baby did enjoy a quick layover in Las Vegas where we let her put $5 into a slot machine. She clearly has her parents’ luck because we didn’t win a thing! We enjoyed celebrating Christmas with my parents and siblings on the 28th and in true James fashion we ended up playing Mexican Train dominos until late in the night. On the 28th we celebrated Christmas with the Cooks this year with the addition of two new girlfriends and three babies in tummies. Here is a picture of my sister, me and my cousin.

New Year’s Eve was extra special for our family this year as we welcomed our first niece into the world at 4:15pm (California time). Peyton Bailey Ancheta weighted 9 lbs 4oz and was 20 inches long. She is beautiful and I can’t wait to meet her in person.

We spent New Year’s Eve with a few of our friends bowling in Topeka. We had a great time and the baby must be good luck because the first game I bowled a 135! I don’t think I have ever done that before! Then on the 1st we were able to celebrate Christmas with the Stinson family. For the first time in a very long time the whole family was there except Jason’s sister and two brothers. The best part of the day was Jason and I spent some time talking with his Grandpa Dale just the two of us about the farm, the house and how it all came to be. We headed home on the 2nd and finally got all of our wonderful Christmas gifts unpacked. On the 3rd we took baby Stinson to her first UNI men’s basketball game. We were able to get tickets in the alumni suite where Make-A-Wish of Black Hawk County and the Waterloo Jaycees had a fundraiser. We enjoyed spending time with our friends and donating to a good cause plus the Panthers were able to extend their winning streak!
We were both able to go back to work on the 4th and 5th then at 10:30pm on the 5th we got a very sad phone call from Jason’s dad that Grandpa Dale had a stroke and was headed to the hospital. We had a very sleepless night that night and decided to head to Kansas first thing on the 6th in the morning. Unfortunately, there was huge winter snow storm that moved though the entire mid-west that day starting at NOON. We were able to make it as far as Cameron, MO before both of us had lost all our nerves and were exhausted so we stopped at 2pm and stayed the night in a hotel. The importance of this part of the story is we felt baby Stinson kick for the first time around 4pm! Jason was not able to feel her but she was going crazy for a little while. We left Cameron at 11am and got a phone call at NOON that Grandpa Dale had passed away. We picked up Jason’s sister Chellie at the airport at 2pm and headed to Osage City. The next four days were a whirlwind of emotions both happy and sad. Grandpa Dale’s funeral was on Monday the 11th in the afternoon as difficult as this was for the whole family it was a beautiful ceremony, even baby Stinson thought so, she was kicking from the time it started until the end of the day when we got back to Osage. I truly believe that our little one has a connection with Grandpa Dale and was letting us know both days that she was thinking about him also.
As the saying goes “one life must end before another can begin” as ironic as that is my sister went into labor at 12:30pm on Monday the 11th and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at 2:54am! Ebony Luella Hughes weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and was 21 inches long. I have been able to spend time with her the last few days and look forward to spending the day with her again tomorrow!

Sorry this is so long but I think that just about catches us up on everything that has been going on since Christmas! Jason and I are finalizing our list of names and will have them posted to the blog within a few days!
