Updates: My mom, 34 week appointment and her room

Tuesday. Usually I have not problems with the day Tuesday, it is the day before the middle of the week and the day after the worst day of the week (I'm not a Monday person!) and typically not a super busy day at work however, this particular Tuesday was a day to be reckoned with. I knew it was going to be one of those days from the very first foot that hit the ground!

It started with me attempting to make brownies for our Lamaze class. I had one of those brownie mixed you get in a jar from a friend and all you have to do is add eggs and oil. I thought this would be great I would mix them up, put them in to bake, shower and by the time I was ready to walk out the door I could take them out of the oven. All good and well in theory but when the brown sugar has harden in the jar and none of the contents under the brown sugar will come out there is a problem. So I decided I would stop at good ol Target after my doctors appointment and pick up some cookies and all would be fixed.

Onto the second problem of the day, Beasley. We started noticing a problem on Saturday night when he would sit on the couch and just shake. There was nothing we could do to comfort him but we thought he was just in a mood or something. Then on Sunday we went to church and right after church I had to head to work and Jason started painting the baby's room so neither of us payed much attention to him all day. The shaking continued Sunday night but again we though he was just nervous about all the changes we are making around the house to get ready for the baby. Monday is when we really knew there was a problem. He didn't eat any of his food or drink any water all day and every time he moved he yelped in pain. So first thing Tuesday morning I called and got him an appointment with our vet who diagnosed him as having a strained or sprained neck. How this happened neither Jason, Dr. Smith or myself know but it did so he got a steroid shot and has a pill he takes once a day to help with the pain. The reason he was not eating or drinking was because it hurt him every time he put his head down into his bowls so being the good parents we are and following Dr. Smiths orders we boiled him two chicken breast last night and feed them to him. He loved...no really loved having human food and having Jason feed it to him. As of now Beasley seems to be doing much better. He is back to eating his food and able to drink out of his water bowl again so hopefully things keep getting better and he will be back to his old self soon enough.

Well as you can probably tell I was already running late for work at this point but lucky when I got to work there was one metered spot left right outside my building. For those of you that have not visited us here in Iowa or had a chance to see UNI where I park is a good 10 minute walk from my building so getting one of the covenanted meter spots is always a good day! Anyway, I park my car and head into our staff meeting which goes just fine then my two hours are up so it is time to put more quarters in the meter. As I am walking to my car it appears the car behind me is parked just a little too close, as I get closer I can clearly see the car has hit my car while trying to park in their spot. Don't get me wrong there is not much damage to my car, really there is just a couple of scrapes in the bumper but one of them is pretty deep it just made me more mad that someone had hit my car more than the amount of damage that was done. I called the UNI police and made a report so all will be fine with my car.

On to my mom. As most of you know she was suppose to see two doctors on Tuesday; one to do a scan of her body to see if there was cancer anywhere else in her body and the other was the doctor that is going to attach the patch to her eye. She arrived at her first appointment for the scan to only find out that there had been some problem with the insurance company and she would not be able to have the scan that day. She was able to meet with the doctor that will be attaching the patch to her eye and had some blood drawn. Over all we didn't find out much from her visit. She is scheduled to go back for the scan next Monday, April 5th so hopefully we will know more after that.

Finally, I went to see Dr. Mall for my 34 week appointment. Everything checked out just as it should;my belly measured 35 and we had a strong 149 heartbeat. They also did another blood test to follow up on my low platelet count  so I should have those results in a couple of days. I go back to the doctor on April 14th then we start our weekly visits!

Please continue to pray for my mom but also please keep the rest of my family in your prayers as there are several that could use a few extra prayers.
