7:30am Jason and I leave our house and head to the hospital to check in. Both of us are nervous and excited at the same time! I have been having constant contractions since our doctors visit on Monday so I am super ready to get checked in and see if there has been any changes.
8:00am Checked into the hospital room 389. Mary is assigned our nurse and she starts my IV
Jason and I prepared for our long journey
8:45am Dilated to a 2+ and about 75% effaced.
10:45am I received my epidural...that is the good stuff! The anesthesiologist is super nice and explained everything as we went along. his one down fall, he is Nebraska fan. I did make for good conversation though and we both agreed that K-State fans and Nebraska fans could be friends until they played each other!
11:00am Dr. Weno broke my water. It had somewhat broke on its own because there was not a big gush but as soon as I sat up there was a big gust...kind of felt like I wet my pants!
11:30am Chellie, Jason sister, arrives at the hospital.
1:00pm Dilated to a 3 at this point I decided it was a good idea to take a nap until 2:15pm
4:30pm Dilated to a 4! Yeah we are making some progress
5:30pm Dr Mall comes in to check me and I am dilated to a 5! Whohoo! Dr. Malls says we should be able to start pushing around 10:30pm!
8:00pm Our precious little girl decides she doesn't like her mommy laying on her right side and we have trouble with her heartbeat. At this point we have to turn off the Pitocin until her heartbeat is regular again.
8:30pm Pitocin started again and I am rechecked. Dilated to a 5-6 which is good because we didn't loose much while the Pitocin was turned off. Also, her head has moved down some! Yeah we might be getting closer!
10:30pm Dilated to a 7
10:45pm Miss Kinley has another reaction to the Pitocin which lasted about 4 minutes so we had to stop the Pitocin. I also have came down with a fever at this point so they start me on antibiotics to help break the fever. Dr. Mall was called at this point and she said we have three options:
1) have a c-section now.
2) try the vaginal birth with out restarting the Pitocin
3) restart the Pitocin but if we have to stop it again for reason we will do a c-section at that point
We decided to go with number three since I really wanted to to be able to at least try my best to have a vaginal birth. We have to wait until my fever breaks before we can restart the Pitocin so at this point we are just waiting.
11:45pm restart the Pitocin. I decide this is a great time to take a nap which lasted until about 3:30am.

2:15am dilated to a 9 almost a 10! Yeah we are getting so close!
4:00am Dilated to a 10! We are going to wait just a bit before we start pushing to let some of the epidural wear off so I will be able to feel when and how to push.
5:30am time to push.
8:30am we have now been pushing for 3 hours and we are making some progress. I have developed a pinched nerve in the right side of my neck/shoulder which feels like knives are being stabbed into me. I have two ice-packs on but they are not helping much and it is making it difficult for me to push though contractions because I can't use that arm or pull again. So all in all it is to the point that she is almost stuck and I am in a lot of pain so Dr. Mall comes in and says we have three options (she is big on give choices!)
1) Keep going as we are but no longer than 45 more minutes
2) Try using the forceps and vacuum and if that doesn't work then c-section
3) c-section
She explained the risk and benefits to each one of the three and we decide to start with number two. We figure that a little help can't hurt and at this point it seems like we are going to have to have a c-section anyway we might as well do the last two things we can before that point.
Dr. Mall tries the forceps but is unable to get both pieces inserted due to where her head is located and how it is positioned. We then try the vacuum but because she is such a large baby it pops off right as I begin to push so we are now off to have a c-section. With in minutes of the vacuum not working there is a whole team of 10-15 people in my room prepping me for surgery. At this point I am pretty disappointed that I was not able to have a vaginal birth, my neck is still in a lot of pain and the hormones are starting to set in so I start to shake. Let me tell you for those of you that have not experiences this it is not fun. It is like standing outside in the middle of the winter with no cloths on and just shivering. I was not cold at all but I couldn't stop shivering.
9:15am I am taken to the delivery room. Jason gets prepped in my room then they let him come into the operating room. With in minutes of Jason arriving they start the process, Jason was able to watch the whole thing and was able to give me updates which was nice.
Jason ready to meet his little girl!
9:30am Miss Kinley Rae Stinson is born! All 20 3/4 inches and 8.71 pounds!
Jason snapped the camera just a second too soon to catch
the actual weight but I love this picture!
After 25 & 1/2 hours of being at the hospital waiting our beautiful baby girl has arrived! The first time I heard her cry was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced! Jason did such a good job of letting me know exactly what was going on and how beautiful she was. The second best thing about the c-section was as soon as they pulled her out my shoulder released! She must have been pushing/laying on a nerve that was causing the pinch. There was instant relief! After they got her cleaned off she was crying so Jason brought her over to my head and put her face right against mine where I was able to talk to her and she stopped crying immediately, opened her eyes and looked right at me. What an amazing experience! I can't ever put into words how great that feeling was, I will never forget that for the rest of my life.
We knew though the labor process that she had released some meconium, we were not sure exactly how much but we knew she would have to undergo some extra test right at the beginning due to this so as soon as she was out and cleaned off they took her with Jason to the NICU for more test. They checked her lungs and no signs of meconium but she did have some pieces in her stomach as well as a 103 degree temperature so they made the decision she would be staying for at least three days in the NICU. They then had to start an IV for Kinley to get the antibiotics to her which they only place the were able to find a good vein was in her head. Poor little girl! She will also be under an oxygen hood until they make sure her lungs check out fully ok and she is able to breath at the proper level.
During this whole process I was taken to my room where my mommy was there to take care of me. I think I drank about a gallon of water in two minutes! In case you didn't realize I had only had ice-chips and Popsicle's for almost 26 hours so I was in dire need for some water! I then was able to take a nap until about NOON while Jason, Chellie, and my mom and dad were able to spend time with Kinley.
After I woke up from my nap they said as soon as the numbness was gone I would be able to be pushed in a wheelchair over to see Kinley so about 2:30pm I was enough recovered that I got to go to her room. Oh my gosh she is just amazing! I was able to hold her for about 15 minutes while they changed her bedding then I was able to help give her, her first sponge bath!
Our first family photo!
What a beautiful site!
Her oxygen hood
What an amazing first day of life for our little girl! More updates to come on her and her status! Please pray for a quick and healthy recovery!
