May 18th @ 8am....

Well still no movement. Clearly I have made a great home for her and she is just not ready to leave. On top of the great home I have made, it has only been in the high 40's the last two days with rain so why would she want to come out...I mean really I don't want to get out of bed so I can completely understand why she is just fine in her current home!

We had our 40 week appointment yesterday and here is a quick recap:

-First we started with an ultrasound to check her position as well as the fluid level around her. Everything checked out fine. Her head is down and facing to the right slightly with her butt up and on the left side of my belly and her feet on the right side. The ultrasounds tech was also able to look at her feet a little bit and said she doesn't not see any indication of her having club feet so that was a bit of a relieve to hear. There are no guarantees but from what we could see they were not turned in any at all. She was also able to show us the heartbeat and it was 136. She also told us that it looks like she is around eight and a half pounds...are you kidding me! But that could be plus or minus a pound so I am hoping for the minus!

-We were suppose to see Dr. Wing but she became ill so we saw Dr. Rellihan who was the doctor on call which made for an interesting visit. We could tell Dr. Rellihan was having one of those days where she was running form one place to the next from the very first moment she came into the room. She was still wearing her scrubs so I'm not sure if she had delivered or was getting ready to deliver a baby but either way not what we are normally use to seeing her in. She checked my cervix which was dilated to a 1 still and she said she would call me maybe 50% effaced so really no change from last week. She said she was "kind of vigorous" when she was examining me today hoping that would help to get things moving.

So here is the plan from here until she is born:

-We are still hoping that she will make the decision to make her appearance on her own, that would be best case scenario in my mind anyway.

-If I am not in labor by 2pm on Monday we will go back to the doctor and they will check me one more time. The main thing they will be checking is to see if my cervix is thinning any from yesterday and how much it has thinned out. If I am making progress on my own but not in labor then I get to go home and come back to the hospital at 8am on Tuesday morning for an induction. If my cervix is not making progress on its own then I will check into the hospital at 7pm Monday night and they will start Cervidil which will help my cervix to start the thinning process and hopefully kick start labor. If necessary they will also give me Pitocin to also help start the labor.

That is pretty much all we know at this point. I am still having a difficult time sleeping at night which I attribute to nerves but nothing else too exciting. I did have some cramping when I first woke up today but it has kind of subsided for right now. If anything changes we will make sure to update you all as soon as possible!
